Tenmei is a dead spirit who has forgotten details about his past life. His only remaining memories are his own name, and the glimpse of a man with red irises named Sei. 

 

 The world of Red Iris is set in 'New Eden', where the city buildings reach the skies and its narrow streets are numbered rather than named. At the heart of the city is a place called 'The District', where the citizens of New Eden visit to escape their authoritarian society.
 Red Iris as a psychological fantasy narrative which utilizes a series of episodic stories to support an overarching plot line.
